If the history of jazz in the second half of the 20th century often revolved around individual names, Irreversible Entanglements is imprinting its mark on that of the 21st with collective strength and intelligence. Composed of poet Camae Ayewa, also known as Moor Mother, saxophonist Keir Neuringer, trumpet player Aquiles Navarro, bassist Luke Stewart, and drummer Tcheser Holmes, Irreversible Entanglements is a free jazz collective. Their music addresses racial inequalities, social justice, and the African diaspora. In 2023, they released Project Your Light on the legendary label Impulse. The group has carved out a prominent place in the avant-garde music scene and continues to captivate audiences. Their unconventional jazz music takes on the contours of aesthetic and political emancipation, a journey to discover on the last night of the Festival.
