RUINE is a departure, a starting point from which everything must begin again, from and with the body. In this solo opera, Erwan Ha Kyoon Larcher becomes a tightrope walker, drummer, singer, acrobat, pyrotechnic craftsman, pagan dancer and archer. RUINE is a succession of linked acts, ranging from highly symbolic (sawing the branch on which one is sitting) to prosaic (drinking water); it contains speeches and promises, open questions about responsibility, the passage of time, choices to be made, patriarchy. Circus teaches us that e v e r y t h i n g i s p o s s i b l e. Falling or aiming at a target sometimes opens up abysses greater than any discourse.
