Zona Franca

Alice Ripoll, a cherished choreographer at the Festival de la Cité, returns with Zona Franca, a performance that shows how Brazil is reinventing itself as it rises from the ashes. On stage, the ten performers move, sing and manipulate colorful balloons, summoned as elements of a contemporary ritual, through which the audience experiences a wide range of emotions, from vulnerability to deep anger to great joy. Zona Franca takes hybridization a step further, combining theater and song, as well as blending popular dances from northern and northeastern Brazil with Afro and Afro house dances.
